He gained his initial experience in opposition and revocation proceedings when working as an intern for the German Patent Office and the German Federal Patent Court. As a lawyer, he has cooperated with patent attorneys in many hearings before those tribunals.

In addition to his many years of practice as a trial lawyer in the field of industrial property rights, Horst has extensive experience in out-of-court settlements and drawing up license and know-how agreements.

His legal expertise also extends to trademark and competition law.

He is the author of "Die rechtliche Bedeutung der Verkehrsgeltung im Wettbewerbs- und Warenzeichenrecht und ihre Feststellung im Prozess," published by Heymanns Verlag,. It deals with the legal meaning of "trade reputation" in competition and trademark law and with its verification in legal actions. In addition, he has written various important professional papers.

Horst frequently works as a member of a team of attorneys, on the national and international levels.

At present, Ulrich is involved primarily in patent matters and product-imitation cases. He represents clients in infringement suits before all competent courts, as well as in opposition and revocation proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, and the European Patent Office. His predominant fields in this respect include medical engineering , electronics and electrical engineering, semiconductor technology, radio and television technology, mechanical engineering, metrology and automatic controls, chemistry and pharmaceutics.

Stephan von Petersdorff-Campen

In patent law, Stephan frequently represents companies in the fields of mechanical engineering and plant engineering, vehicle construction, household appliances, textile technology, construction material technology, and structural engineering. Among his principal fields of activity are trademark and design law, with an emphasis on counseling companies engaged in manufacturing luxury goods on the development and implementation of protective and counter-offensive strategies. His major activities in the area of competition law include working with agencies and handling special applications of competition law, such as those involving the protection of trade secrets, and cases involving technical and/or scientific aspects.

Stephan appears before all German courts having jurisdiction in the area of the protection of industrial property rights, as well as before the European Court of Justice. Especially in the field of trademark law, he has been involved as an attorney in several precedent-setting decisions. The revision of traditional German court rulings regarding the right to recover infringement profits is based on test-case litigation he conducted. In international proceedings and in litigation touching on the protection of industrial property rights, he coordinates counseling, strategy development and litigation with patent attorneys and other experts.

Stephan has presented papers at seminars held by the textile industry. He is a co-author of the "Handbuch Mode-Marketing", a manual of fashion marketing (published by Deutscher Fachverlag).

Bernward ZollnerDr. iur., LL. M.

Bernward concentrates on litigation. In patent law, his cases include infringement disputes as well as patent revocation and opposition proceedings in a variety of technical fields. He has pleaded and assisted in legal proceedings through the appeals process for worldwide corporations in the areas of medical technology (cardiac catheters, vascular prostheses, surgical instruments), chemistry (steel alloys, polymers), electrical engineering (lighting engineering, alarm technology, automatic controls, heating technology, bus systems), mechanical engineering (bevel gears, motive power engineering, filtering technology, bakery machinery, laser measuring technology), computer technology (chip design), and consumer goods.

Bernward's trial activities also include the fields of design protection (design piracy), as well as the protection of trademarks and plant-varieties. He has litigated customs-confiscation proceedings relating to the protection of plant varieties and patent law for companies engaged in international business activities.

In association with a presiding judge of a court for patent matters, Bernward has for many years given a seminar on patent infringement proceedings.

Henrik TimmannDr. iur.

His activities in the field of technical property rights concentrate on litigation of infringement suits before civil courts and, in cooperation with patent attorneys and patent departments, on patent opposition, revocation, and cancellation actions. His briefs reflect a broad range of experience especially in technical fields such as genetic engineering, organic and inorganic chemistry, process engineering, computer technology, analog and digital audio and video technology, medical engineering, pharmaceutics, optics, and mobile telecommunications (2G and 3G).

In the field of trademark law, Henrik's involvement begins at the concept and development stages. He appears before civil courts as well as national and international offices and agencies.

His other major fields of work include design protection and unfair competition, particularly in areas involving technical aspects, such as telecommunications and the pharmaceutical industry. Henrik also works on copyright cases involving software and the internet.

His primary extrajudicial activities include license agreements and compensation for employee inventions.

Eike SchaperDr. iur.

As an attorney, he provides advisory and forensic services in all areas of industrial property protection as well as in copyright law. He has a wealth of litigation experience in the enforcement of intellectual property rights. Eike has acted as lead attorney in a number of trademark and unfair competition litigations, above all in preliminary injunction proceedings. Eike's advisory work focuses on the out-of-court settlement of conflicts, e.g. by concluding trademark co existence agreements, and on drafting and negotiating license agreements.

His clients include German and foreign companies. Eike covers a wide range of sectors, running the gamut from the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries to mechanical engineering firms.

Eike wrote the book entitled “Durchsetzung der Gemeinschaftsmarke – Internationale Zuständigkeit, anwendbares Recht und Rechtsfolgen bei Verletzung” (“Enforcement of the Community Trademark – International Jurisdiction, Applicable Law and Remedies for Infringement”) published by Carl Heymanns Verlag and is the author of various articles which have been published in law reviews.

Miriam Büttner

She works in these fields exclusively as an attorney-at-law, serving clients in extremely diverse sectors (e.g. textiles and engines/generators). Miriam has recently focused on the creation and enforcement of unregistered community design patents. Furthermore, Miriam works as a supporting attorney in patent infringement proceedings in all fields of technology, with electrical engineering, automotive engineering, general mechanics, mechanical engineering, textiles and microbiology (diagnostics technology) leading the way.

Another focal point of her activity consists of advising and representing companies in matters of competition law, which often have complex technical backgrounds as well. Miriam Büttner also has in-depth knowledge of copyright law, with due regard to the topical issue of building and destroying structures and works of applied art.

Technical experience garnered by Rüdiger primarily comes from the fields of process engineering, digital storage media and reading devices, electronic elements, industrial packaging, mechanical engineering and engine technology. Other primary areas of activity include fashion and design protection as well as the planning and implementation of trademark and tradename protection strategies.

In his book entitled “Die einstweilige Verfügung zum Schutze des geistigen Eigentums im grenzüberschreitenden Verkehr” (“Preliminary Injunctions for the Protection of Intellectual Property in Cross-Border Markets”, published by Carl Heymanns Verlag) for which he received an award from the companies Schiesser AG and Allweiler AG, Rüdiger addresses issues concerning international jurisdiction, German, English and Dutch procedural law, and legal harmonization in Europe. He has also authored professional journal articles.

Hetti HilgeLL.M.

Her principal areas of activity as an attorney are patent infringement proceedings in all technical fields, with special regard to telecommunications, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, general mechanics and biotechnology. Further points of focus are consultancy and case conduct in the fields of trademark, design and domain law as well as unfair competition. Hetti’s out-of-court work involves drafting license and cooperation contracts as well as trademark co-existence agreements.

Hetti often works in teams with lawyers and patent attorneys and has already amassed extensive practical experience in coordinating complex multinational infringement lawsuits. She became notably acquainted with the assertion of antitrust restrictions when enforcing industrial rights - a plea that has only recently started gaining importance.
